"Darwin was the first to use data from nature to convince people that evolution is true, and his idea of natural selection was truly novel. It testifies to his genius that the concept of natural theology, accepted by most educated Westerners before 1859, was vanquished within only a few years by a single five-hundred-page book. On the Origin of Species turned the mysteries of life's diversity from mythology into genuine science." -- Jerry Coyne

Jane Goodall
I'm a big fan of Jane Goodall. In the 1960's she lived with chimps in their habitat. She learned how much chimpanzee apes have in common with human apes, including both altruism and violent wars against other groups of chimpanzees.
She did not study bonobo apes. They only want to make love. They are never violent.
I found this and I thought it was interesting:
National Geographic - New Jane Goodall Film to Reveal Never-Before-Seen Footage A biopic about the famed primatologist will feature archived film of her early work in the 1960s.
