Your "the religious just get dumber" answers your question. The creationists are uneducated morons. And they go out of their way to stay uneducated. They know nothing about the science that makes them cry. Their disease is incurable. Stupid can't be fixed. 

A big problem in Idiot America is science education. It sucks. A survey showed that most American high school biology teachers can not competently teach evolution, and a large number of these worthless teachers completely avoid talking about evolution even though it's the foundation of biology. They fear harassment and threats from Christian ASSHOLES. The students are cheated. Biology without evolution is boring. Students learn how to hate science instead of loving science.
