It's a great time to be alive.

I'm old enough to remember when nobody imagined an internet.

I used to go to stores to buy stuff. Now I just tell Amazon to ship it to me.

I used to think I would always have to drive my car to chess clubs to play chess. These days I play chess with anyone in the world from my living room and then ask for free computer analysis of my games.

I used to mail a check to pay my bills. Now I can pay everyone with a mouse click.

Another nice thing is being able to look things up and find what I'm looking for in one second. Thanks Google.

There are countless other reasons why the 21st century is a wonderful place. It's a great time to be alive.

Unfortunately the Republican Party is infested with millions of anti-science assholes and anti-environment assholes. The current Republican president, Mr. Fucktard Trump, has created an extremely anti-science administration. Scientists hate Trump.

The Trump administration is doing everything they can to destroy the environment and wipe out species.

Republicans are totally god-soaked. They're in love with their dead Magic Jeebus Man. Obviously they're insane.

AT&T says all U.S. states will use its public safety network

NEW YORK (Reuters) - AT&T Inc said on Friday that all 50 U.S. states had decided to participate in the nationwide broadband network it is building for first responders as part of a $6.5 billion government contract.

In March, the U.S. government awarded a contract to AT&T to build the network, years after a federal commission recommended setting up such a system following the 9/11 attacks.

The No. 2 U.S. wireless carrier will receive 20 megahertz of wireless airwaves and success-based payments of $6.5 billion over the next five years as part of the project known as FirstNet. AT&T expects to spend about $40 billion over 25 years to build and maintain the network.

States had until Thursday to opt out of AT&T’s network and build their own public safety networks. In addition to the states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands also opted for FirstNet, AT&T said. Decisions from the three Pacific territories of American Samoa, Guam and Northern Mariana Islands are not due until March 12, 2018.

Wall Street analysts have said FirstNet is a way for AT&T to add to its portfolio of wireless airwaves, or spectrum, at a time when consumers are using more data on their cell phones. The company can use the spectrum it receives from the U.S. government to provide more network capacity for wireless customers when it is not in use by emergency responders.

Rome's history spans 28 centuries.

I just finished a chess game (at https://lichess.org). My opponent lives Rome, Italy. As usual I look things up after the game. This is something that looks interesting so I'm going to study it: Wikipedia - History of Rome.

'World's ugliest pig' caught on camera

Scientists have captured the first footage in the wild of one of the world's rarest - and ugliest - pigs.

The Javan warty pig is under such threat from hunting and habitat loss that conservationists surveying its habitat believed it might already have been driven to extinction.

Camera traps have now revealed that small populations survive in Java's increasingly fragmented forests.

The team says its aim now is to protect the rare animals' habitat.

The survey was led by Dr Johanna Rode-Margono from Chester Zoo, who said she and her colleagues were "thrilled" to see that the pigs were still there.

The last study of these lowland forested areas was back in 2004 and revealed a "serious decline" in the population of the species.

"We were worried that all or most would have disappeared," she told BBC News.

Human-pig conflict

While these hairy, warty-faced beasts may not be Java's most photogenic residents, Dr Rode-Margono says they fulfil an important role in the forest's ecology - tilling the soil and spreading seeds as they forage.

And in Java, Indonesia's most crowded island, they are also emblematic of the burgeoning human pressure on the country's tropical forest.

The pigs are losing habitat to deforestation for agricultural and urban development, but are also coming into direct conflict with humans. The animals are considered pests and often hunted because they raid crops.

"Hunting for sport is also a problem," says Dr Rode-Margono, "and the species may be hybridising with European wild boar." That could result in the species being bred into extinction.

Fighting for the forests

Deforestation continues to threaten Indonesia's forests and the wildlife that relies on it. Palm oil plantations, in particular, have been blamed for the clearance of swathes of biodiverse forest. And while the scale can be difficult to measure, one study used satellite images to estimate that, between 2000 and 2012, Indonesia lost more than six million hectares, or 60,000 sq km, of primary forest.

Deforestation and increased human activity in the rainforest may also be also exacerbating the illegal trade in pet apes. One charity in Java is now employing former hunters in an effort to guard and patrol areas of forest where they are re-releasing rescued animals.

Much of the seemingly pristine forest in Java is being targeted by trappers to feed the demand for wild-caught caged birds, which conservationists now say is threatening to drive several species of previously widespread songbirds to extinction.

Out of seven areas the team surveyed - using hidden, motion-activated cameras - only three had Javan warty pigs.

"That means the threat is ongoing and if we don't do anything, more and more populations will disappear," said Dr Rode-Margono. "This is a big red flag."

One wildlife centre in Java has started a captive breeding programme for the Javan warty pigs, and the scientists hope to identify some areas where these animals could be released and protected in the wild.

"There is still hope," Dr Rode-Margono told BBC News. "If we can manage to design some effective conservation projects, maybe we can keep them.

"For me," she added, "they are not ugly - they are beautiful.

"And everything in our ecosystem is connected - every tree, every plant, every animal. They depend on each other.

"If something breaks away, something else [could] break away, and that's a chain reaction where we can't foresee what will happen."

Some facts

Evolution is a natural process. The magic god fairy had nothing to do with it. The fairy did not invent or use or guide evolution. Evolution does not require a fairy.

This creates a problem for god-soaked retards. Where do they hide their god of the gaps?

They have 3 favorite places.

They hide their fairy in evolution and I just explained why that's bullshit.

They invoke their fairy's magical powers to magically create the 1st simple living cells. Anyone who bothers to look things up knows that's bullshit. Scientists know too much about abiogenesis to throw it out.

They hide their fairy before the big bang. Their bullshit goes like this: Nothing can't become something therefore the Magic Man did it. This will always be a research opportunity but scientists have ideas about how the universe began and none of them invoke a fairy's magic wand.

In any case if the fairy was not necessary for something as complex as the development of new species then it's ridiculous to pretend the fairy was required for anything else.

Another problem for religious morons, what caused their fairy to exist? The usual answer: "Duh, duh, the fairy had no beginning, duh." Their evidence? They have nothing. They are just desperately making things up to defend their ridiculous childish fairy fantasy. The stupid, it burns.

I just played chess with someone in Tamasopo, San Luis Potosí, Mexico. After the game, as usual, I used google to explore the area. It's a paradise, a fantastic place to live.

Tamasopo is a municipality and town in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosí. The town is located at 21°55′21″N 99°23′33″W. The municipality had an area of 1,329 square kilometres (513 sq mi) and a population of 28,848 in 2010, including the population of the town of Tamasopo with 4,326 people.[1]


Tamasopo is located in the foothills of the Sierra Madre Oriental. The town of Tamosopo has an elevation of 1,200 feet (370 m). The surrounding mountains rise to about 5,000 feet (1,500 mts) above sea level.[2] Tamasopo is famous for its enchanting waterfalls in a lush rain forest.


El Puente de Dios is two miles (3 km) northwest of Tamasopo town. It consists of waterfalls into a narrow gorge and cavern beneath an arch through which the Gallinas river runs rapidly. Blue and clear water pools for swimming are at the top and bottom of the cavern. The Cascada de Tamasopo is two miles (3 km) north of the town. It features three cascades tumbling about 20 metres (66 ft) into pools divided by travertineledges and shelves. The character of the waterfalls reminds some travelers of Havasu Falls in the Grand Canyon.[3] Nearby is El Trampolin which consists of small waterfalls falling into clear, deep pools in the midst of a tropical forest.[4]
