Yahoo question: Do you believe in god, and why? Two answers copied and pasted here. I wrote the 2nd answer.

We know the biology behind the mental illness of theism... People that truly believe are people that have predictable brain scans that allow them to maintain magical thinking and cult like behaviors.

The only way to get a person that lacks these genetics/brain damage to believe is via abuse... You make the child fear for their existence and they'll do and say and believe anything...

But even in cases like that, you'll almost always end up with an adult that stops believing but maintains lip service and seeming devotion out of fear.

For example, it's illegal to not be a Muslim in many Islamic Theocracies. People will pretend to be devout muslims until the second they can escape...

There is no such thing as a true believer when you must maintain obedience and belief via threats of death, abuse, torture, murder, and imprisonment.

"I also question the sanity of people who agree with creationism and I know that sounds pretty harsh but if you do believe in creationism I enocourage you to say why, because it boggles my mind."

46% of Americans are creationists. They disgrace their country. Thanks to these god-soaked uneducated science deniers America is a laughing stock.

"Do you believe in god?"

The magic god fairy was invented by uneducated morons long before there were any scientists. Thank goodness I don't have this mental illness.

"a life after death"

It's a childish fantasy for cowards.

"I think islam is a religion full of war and hatred, who agrees?" A Yahoo question.

Who files airplanes into buildings?

Christians? Jews? Atheists?

Of course not.

Only Muslims fly airplanes into buildings, after the cowards cut the throats of female flight attendants.

Only Muslim blow themselves up to murder women and children.

Only Muslims bury women up to their necks and then every cowardly man in the village stones the woman to death.

Only Muslims throw acid into the eyes of little girls just because they were walking to school.

This answer will be deleted by a Yahoo coward but somebody had to write it.

"The Christian nightmare: how do you know Jeebus rose from the dead?"

"The Christian nightmare: how do you know Jeebus rose from the dead?"

500 dead gullible witnesses who may or may not have existed.

In other words the disgusting ridiculous resurrection fantasy does not have one shred of real evidence.

What makes the resurrection fantasy a nightmare for Christians is their entire cult completely depends on a fantasy that is completely impossible and most certainly never happened.

The only reason gullible uneducated people still believe in this idiocy is the relentless brainwashing of children, also known as child abuse.

If the brainwashers had the decency to wait until children were old enough to be able to think for themselves, the disgusting Christian Death Cult would go extinct in less than a century.

A Muslim asked "Don't you Christians understand that we're almost exactly the same?"

Jewish/Christian Law 2; Do not eat pork, Jesus was a Jew.
islamic law 2: do not eat pork.

I love pork steaks. Does Allah really care if I eat a pig?

Islamic law 8: Do not steal

Or else we'll cut off your hands.

Christian law: protect the environment
islamic law: protect the environment

If only it was true. At one Muslim country they ate all the sea turtle eggs, a species threatened with extinction. And Christians will destroy the environment if it's lucrative for them to do that.

The truth is Christianity and Islam have a lot in common. The miracles are a bit different, their ideas about the Magic Jeebus Man are a bit different, but the whole idea there's a magical master of the entire universe showing its love for the human apes on this insignificant planet in the middle of nowhere, that fantasy is shared by both religions.

And if there really was a magical being (Allah/God/Zeus) it would be disgusted with these religions which each think they're better than anyone else.

"Why do some creationists assume one cannot be a theist and accept evolution at the same time?"

"Why do some creationists assume one cannot be a theist and accept evolution at the same time?"

Creationists are uneducated and they're a few other things I won't write about here because I don't want to make the Yahoo crybabies cry like babies.

But they get one thing right. If evolution is true then Christianity and every other religious cult is dead.

The point is evolution has made the magic fairy completely unnecessary for the development of new species. And if a fairy's magic wand is not necessary for something that complex, then it's fair to say its magic wand is not necessary for anything else.

In other words religion died in 1859 when the greatest person who ever lived, Charles Darwin, published On the Origin of Species. Not everyone got the memo but we don't need the god fairy anymore.

I would also like to point out an obvious truth: The Magic Jeebus Man most certainly was a creationist as was everyone else who lived 2,000 years ago. If Christians accept the established truth of evolution then they are admitting their dead Jeebus was an uneducated moron.

I'm saving this here before the Yahoo scum vaporize it.

Do I correctly understand what Christians do to defend their religion?

I noticed Christians are constantly trying to find some place to hide God. For example evolution. They either say evolution is wrong and God did it, or they say God invented natural selection. It's like they have to stick God everywhere, even when it's not necessary for anything.

Do I correctly understand what Christians do to defend their religion?

I ask this question to better understand people I don't understand.

They are indoctrinated into thinking their fictional deity is the cause of things like humans and animals and the such. To satisfy that indoctrinated belief, they must slap a coat of Jesus on every scientific theory that *actually* explains the factual non-religious origin of things.

Christians and muslims, why do you oppose evolution? I would appreciate sensible answers.

"I would appreciate sensible answers."

You expect sensible answers from science deniers?

"Christians and muslims, why do you oppose evolution?"

They don't like the religious implications, and it doesn't help they know nothing about the science they don't like.

Perhaps evolution seems impossible for people who know nothing about it. For example we share an ancestor with cockroaches. To understand how this is possible these people have to understand the basics like the age of the earth and the millions of years required for new species to develop.

They have to understand natural selection, an easy concept to understand, but they don't get it. They think it's all random, everything is by chance, instead of the natural selection of what works.

Their chances of learning these things are zero because their religious indoctrination has sucked out all their curiosity. So they have no desire to learn anything. Instead they go out of their way to know nothing.

There is no hope for these people. Their wasted lives will be spent never knowing what they are and where they came from.

The Magic Jeebus Man is a mythical character invented by idiots and still believed by idiots.

http://www.jesusneverexisted.com/

Jesus – The Imaginary Friend
Christianity was the ultimate product of religious syncretism in the ancient world. Its emergence owed nothing to a holy carpenter. There were many Jesuses but the fable was a cultural construct.
The nativity yarn is a concatenation of nonsense. The genealogies of Jesus, both Matthew's version and Luke's, are pious fiction. Nazareth did not exist in the 1st century AD – the area was a burial ground of rock-cut tombs.
With multiple authors behind the original gospel story it is no surprise that the figure of "Jesus" is a mess of contradictions. Yet the story is so thinly drawn that being a "good Christian" might mean almost anything.
The 12 disciples are as fictitious as their master, invented to legitimise the claims of the early churches. The original Mary was not a virgin, that idea was borrowed from pagan goddesses. The pagan world knew all about virgins getting pregnant by randy gods: The Mythical "Virgin Mother".
Scholars have known all this for more than 200 years but priestcraft is a highly profitable business and finances an industry of deceit to keep the show on the road.
"Jesus better documented than any other ancient figure"? Don't believe a word of it. Unlike the mythical Jesus, a real historical figure like Julius Caesar has a mass of mutually supporting evidence.
The case for a mythical Jesus – Nailing Jesus. Book review: Ehrman - Did Jesus Exist? Popular scholar recoils from the abyss. A rescue mission for the "Jesus of history" – The New Apologists.

The evidence is overwhelming. DNA sequencing has repeatedly (thousands of times) shown that we are apes who evolved from ancient apes. How long will it take before the god-soaked learn how to accept basic facts of science?

Less than five minutes after I copied and pasted this excellent answer, the Yahoo crybabies deleted the whole thing.

You need to read up on the problem that confronts people who are "in denial".

in denial
> a psychological defense mechanism postulated by Sigmund Freud, in which a person
is faced with a fact that is too uncomfortable to accept and rejects it ...

Hundreds of frequent users on R&S face this quandary.

quan·da·ry
> a state of perplexity or uncertainty over what to do in a difficult situation.

On the one hand they have a Bible - written in profoundly ignorant times, two to four thousand years ago! - and on the other, the mountains of scientific evidence which support the *fact* of evolution.

Forced to make a choice, they find themselves having to think just like ignorant Middle-Eastern shepherds who lived thousands of years back, when little or no science of any kind had been brought to light.

Devoted Christians need your sympathy, not your impatience. They are in the impossible situation of having to choose between their ancient faith and the real world of the 21st century.

And you can take that statement to the bank, since it is the truth - in spite of what any believer has to say about it.

100% of biologists accept evolution as a natural process (god had nothing to do with it) but only 19% of Americans accept evolution without sticking a magical being into it. Obviously America has a serious science education problem. Most American biology teachers are incompetent. MY QUESTION: How can American science education be fixed to correct this disgraceful problem? Or is there no hope?

Batgirl answered 7 hrs ago
They might need to do some lessons on why creationism is crap. They might need to kick religion out of their classrooms because religion has no business in a science classroom in the first place. They might need to buck the system and say enough, here's the latest research and so forth on evolution, on biology, on how stuff works as we understand it at this point.

[ Science is not and has never been ' fixed ' at any one point at any one time ever. For obvious reasons. ]

Astrophysicist Dave Goldberg:
Members of the general public (along with people with an ideological axe to grind) hear the word "theory" and equate it with "idea" or "supposition." We know better. Scientific theories are entire systems of testable ideas which are potentially refutable either by the evidence at hand or an experiment that somebody could perform. The best theories (in which I include special relativity, quantum mechanics, and evolution) have withstood a hundred years or more of challenges, either from people who want to prove themselves smarter than Einstein, or from people who don't like metaphysical challenges to their world view. Finally, theories are malleable, but not infinitely so. Theories can be found to be incomplete or wrong in some particular detail without the entire edifice being torn down. Evolution has, itself, adapted a lot over the years, but not so much that it wouldn't still be recognize it. The problem with the phrase "just a theory," is that it implies a real scientific theory is a small thing, and it isn't.

[ And America needs to stop elevating being gleefully ignorant as a fucking virtue. It's not. It's wrecking our country. Yeah, I said it. ]

Muslim scum need to be wiped off this planet.

  • Nous answered 3 hrs ago
The violence goes right back to a dispute over who had spiritual authority over the Muslim community after the death of the prophet Muhammad in what is called the “fitna” which translates as temptation or trial and caused all the discord within Muslim community.

Shi’ite Muslims believe that authority was vested in his family; the Sunnis look to the sayings and actions of Muhammad as well as the Koran.

The extreme sectarian violence has been brought about by Al-Qaeda Which while being exclusively Sunni deliberately set Shi’ites and Sunnis to kill each other in Iraq. Sadly more Muslims die by Muslim hands each month than were killed by the invading forces in the war!

Hamas also kills far more Muslims than the Israelis ever have!

An average of over thirty five Muslims a week were being killed by Muslims but in the last few years it has frequently been over a hundred a week!

Whether it is a Danish Cartoon, book of fiction , a snippet of film or some other excuse, Muslims hit the streets around the world rioting, looting, burning and uttering death threats!

Nearly all the Muslim countries are seeing Muslims attack Muslims destroying homes, businesses, infrastructure and targeting women and children particularly showing the extremists must surely be trying to turn Muslims into primitives living in caves and mud huts so they can be controlled more easily!

The murders in London and Paris clearly demonstrate that the extremists are winning in turning Muslims into primitive savages!

All that is required for evil to triumph over good is for good men to do nothing Evil can triumph only if good men do nothing – Edmund Burke

So if Muslims want Islam to be a religion of peace and be able to live in peace what are Muslims going to do about it?!

What should concern everyone is that the aims of the Muslim Brotherhood, al Qaeda, the Taliban and all of Islam really is total world domination. Whilst it is currently about civil war make no mistake their ultimate aim is world war three

I don't have a very high opinion of Muslims. I have even more contempt for the wimps who suck up to Muslims, especially the cowardly brain-dead wimps who work for Yahoo.

Nous wrote about Muslims "targeting women and children particularly". This is typical for cowards. Kill women and children. Only a cowardly Muslim would do this.

Yahoo, if you're going to delete my answer then you have to delete what Nous wrote. Let's see if you Yahoo wimps have the nerve to do that.

Just because more than a thousand captured soldiers were executed is no reason to not respect the religion that made this atrocity possible, according to the cowardly wimpy assholes who work for Yahoo.

Question: Does anyone really still believe that Islam is the relogion of peace?

Deleted Answer: More than a thousand captured Iraq soldiers were executed yesterday because they belonged to the wrong branch of an idiotic cult, aka Islam.

A cut and paste job about religious brainwashing also known as child abuse.

The only way primitive religion exists today is through the child abuse of forcing it into very, very young children but thanks to better education and growing intellects so many teens are able to discover the truth, throw off the indoctrination and step into the real world!

Acceptance of a supernatural claim tends to promote cooperative social relationships. This communication demonstrates a willingness to accept, without skepticism, the influence of the speaker in a way similar to a child's acceptance of the influence of a parent. By encouraging this kind of behavior where the most intense social relationships occur it facilitates the lack of skepticism and deters more open minded thinking.

They are christian, Muslim or the other religions depending where they were born simply because they were indoctrinated by their parents as very young children. They will go on to indoctrinate their own children and those will go on to indoctrinate their grandchildren!

Atheists have the intellect to see through the conditioning and escape into the real world!

Agnostics have the intellect to see through the conditioning but lack the courage to throw off the conditioning entirely.

Sadly Christians, Muslims and others are still held firmly prisoner by the self perpetuating brainwashing!

George Carlin On Religion

This summary is not available. Please click here to view the post.

Religious indoctrination is child abuse. The child abusers belong in prison.

"Atheists: Do you honestly find fault with passing on your beliefs to your children?"

Good question.

Beliefs are wrong. Children need to understand anything that requires a belief (no evidence) should be thrown out.

Religious indoctrination is legal but it's child abuse. The child abusers should be ashamed of themselves because they are actually damaging their children's brains.

The problem is Christians know their fantasies are ridiculous and would never be accepted by a grownup person. And that's why they brainwash their victims when they're very young, instead of waiting until their brain is fully developed.

UPDATE: The fucking crybabies who work for Yahoo deleted my answer. What a bunch of cowardly fucking assholes. Fuck you Yahoo.

A copy and paste job from yahoo answers about evolution and the fucking morons who deny it.

"In short, evolution is as close to being a scientific fact as is possible for any theory, given that science is open-ended and no one can predict with certainty what may change in the future. The prospect that evolution by natural selection, at least as a broad mechanism, will be overthrown in the future is about as likely as the prospect of finding out some day that the Earth is really flat. Unfortunately, those who regard these scientific facts as a threat to faith have chosen to distort and misrepresent them to the public."
- Victor J Stenger, Has Science Found God? (draft: 2001), ch. 2

"The argument from design stands or falls on whether it can be demonstrated that some aspect of the universe such as its origin or biological life could not have come about naturally. The burden of proof is ... on the supernaturalist to demonstrate that something from outside nature must be introduced to explain the data."
- Victor Stenger, Has Science Found God? (draft: 2001), ch. 4

"Alternative explanations are always welcome in science, if they are better and explain more. Alternative explanations that explain nothing are not welcome.... Note how science changed those beliefs when new data became available. Religions stick to the same ancient beliefs regardless of the data."
- Victor Stenger
Adjunct Professor of Philosophy, University of Colorado
Professor Emeritus of Physics and Astronomy, University of Hawaii (retired in 2000)
Update : After about 500 years of modern science, most scientists say that there is no reason to assert the existence of God to explain anything.
"Modern physics leaves no place for God in the creation of the Universe, Stephen Hawking has concluded.
Just as Darwinism removed the need for a creator in the sphere of biology, Britain's most eminent scientist argues that a new series of theories have rendered redundant the role of a creator for the Universe.

Agnostics are full of crap.

Agnosticism is the ability to be full of crap and it's the inability to be able to figure out a simple fact of reality.

Is supernatural magic real or not?

Any child could figure it out. Agnostics can't figure it out because their brain damage is incurable.

"the Atheist is comfortable with what is observable and measureable by human technologies and is willing to close their mind to the small possibility of the existence of unmeasureable forces"

Why do you call magic "unmeasureable forces"?

If you call magic something else it's still magic and it's still ridiculous and childish.

I don't see any difference between agnostics, bible thumpers, and terrorists. All of these people are insane.

"Please respectfully explain why you disagree"

As if I should respect religious insanity. The violence and the stupidity is out of control and your kind are part of the problem.

Reality: There are no magical beings including Easter Bunnies and magical god fairies.
